ABOUT

My job is to tell stories with sound.

I am an audio engineer and composer based in Maine. I have been nominated for an Emmy and have won several awards, some of which are listed below. My work includes making music from the sounds of glaciers in Iceland, mixing live audio for ESPN, writing music for This American Life and bringing listeners inside the ropes of the Masters golf tournament through sound.

I mix commercials, films, and podcasts, write music for visual media and sometimes produce albums.

If you'd like to collaborate, please do not hesitate to reach out! You'll find me at charlesvankirk@gmail.com.

I teach audio workshops occasionally at Maine Media, an excellent school located in Rockport, Maine.
